President of the International Softball Federation Don Porter described as a “success” the realization of the 12th Softball Women’s World Championship in Venezuela, and said that Venezuela might be hosting future sport events. “I am very pleased with the event results. I thank the Organizing Committee, the workers, and President Hugo Chávez all their effort to make this event possible. Venezuela has two great venues for playing softball, therefore it might apply to host the next Junior Women´s World Championship - under-16 – and the Universities World Championship,” Porter said.
The ISF along with the National Government and the Ministry of the Popular Power for Sports (Mindeporte) consider to utilize the Independencia and Bicentenario stadiums as a Latin American training center.
Porter added that all 15 delegations visiting Simon Bolivar´s homeland were satisfied with the event organization. “Some delegations were worried about the venues conditions because the Championship was organized in such a short notice; however they are atisfied because Venezuela did a good work,” said. |
