First base and Captain of Team Venezuela María Soto was elected as the athletes’ representative before the International Softball Federation Board after a voting process carried out among the athletes of the 12th Softball World Championship, Caracas 2010.

“I am very excited and happy. It is a great opportunity. You may be sure that I will be working by softball and my partners”, Venezuelan team captain María Soto said after International Softball Federation President Don Porter announced her election as the athletes’ representative before ISF Board to the national and international media.

Soto is the first athlete facing this challenge. The athletes chose her in a voting process where Lynn Alexander from South Africa, Valeria Livschitz from Argentina, Danielle Stewart from Australia and Stacie Townsend from Great Britain were also nominated.

“This is the first time this election is held, so we are very pleased that Maria Soto makes part of the Board. We know she is going to do her work well, and that she will be responsible in this important position,” Poter said.
