In order to give continuity to the boost the 12th Women´s World Championship has given to softball, Minister of the Popular Power for Sports Héctor Rodríguez promised Venezuelan people to continue developing that sport.

“I congratulate all the people who made it possible for this World Championship to become reality, and strongly congratulate Victoria Mata, who has injected energy to the Venezuelan sport. Therefore I want to continue the great work she did as minister”, Rodríguez highlighted.

The Minister met Softball International Federation President Donald Porter; Fevesoftbol President Jesús Suniaga; as well as other national sport representatives in order to find ideas for utilizing the new venues.

“We will create working tables to give a productive utilization to these excellent facilities, in order to spread this sport playing,” Rodríguez said. He deeply congratulated Venezuelan players also, who reached fifth place in the event.

“Although it wasn´t first place, the team may be satisfied because what was achieved was far more important than a medal: the team girls encouraged small girls to follow their footstep and fulfilled the Venezuelan people with joy,” he added.

Likewise, he appointed that his work will be focused on High Performance as well as on mass spreading and physical activity.

“Sports is one of the best ways to provide Venezuelan people with the highest happiness possible, therefore we will work to take sports everywhere in Venezuela,” Mindeporte Minister said.

Rodríguez took the opportunity to join the world cause to make Softball become part of the Olympic Games 2020.

“The Venezuelan people love this sport and with the Bolivarian Government and the Sport Ministry support, we promise to do whatever it takes to make Softball return to the Olympics”, Rodríguez stated.

On the other hand, World Championship Organizing Committee Victoria Mata said that in a meeting with Don Porter, Minister Rodríguez and herself, the President of the Bolivarian republic of Venezuela Hugo Chávez joined the cause as well.

“Our President asked Don Porter what must be done for getting Softball back to the Olympics in 2020, because Venezuela will join that initiative,” said.
