American coach Jay Miller strategy of eating and sleeping well before an important game paid off in the last game of the 12th Softball Women´s World Championships on Friday: Team America run-ahead-ruled Japan 7-0 obtaining the gold medal in the Caracas tournament.
Despite his phlegmatic attitude, Miller was not able to hide the satisfaction of “getting that monkey off his back” against the team that only 4 years ago took the gold medal away from them in the Beijing Fengtai stadium at the Olympic Games 2008 – when softball was still an Olympic sport.
“We are very pleased with the results, we worked hard to win against Japan, which is a strong team,” American coach commented. After winning the gold medal, Jay Miller thanked and praised Venezuelan fans. “Venezuelans are amazing people, they are full energy spectators,” Coach Miller stated and added: “We want to come back soon to know better this special country.” |
